Milling rice manually is a true Filipino tradition, and in light of this being their weekly task the housemates, like our true ancestors, lightened up the tedious work with a few jokes, and a little song and dance as well!
This morning, Gee-Ann was keeping Kian, Nel and Bodie in rhythm while the others worked on their lunch. She’s developed a fondness for singing during her stay in the PBB house, and this time she had the boys singing OPM hits, from the Eraserheads rock songs to Vhong Navarro’s novelty tunes! Everyone happily chimed in, but soon broke into laughter when Nel, who was eagerly grounding and pounding, forcefully declared: “I am Thor, God of Thunder!”
Mickey, Robert and Bruce then took over for their shift, and although they were quite serious with their work, Mickey offered some advice to Robert on how to move more flexibly. They shared quite a few laughs as he gyrated a little bit, but the three were about to receive more entertainment when Nel and Bea went out to help!
The two were separating the husks with a bilao when the classic Filipino tune ‘Magtanim ay ‘Di Biro’ suddenly played. Nel almost automatically stood up and asked Bea’s hand for a dance, and she consented in traditional dalaga fashion! It soon turned comedic when Nel desperately tried to keep up with Bea as she taught him, but to no avail… so Nel simply sat down and said: “Hindi rin biro to ah!”
And so the housemates go about their daily task with a renewed dedication, but with a stronger determination. Will they finally succeed and add a second win to their dreary list of weekly task efforts? Stay tuned!
