The Invisible Girl

Nothing escapes the eye of Big Brother! It has been duly noted how the once close friends Wendy and Dionne suddenly turned into almost sworn enemies this past week. As all the HMs went to collect their bountiful stock of groceries in the storage room, Dionne on the other hand isolated herself from them.

Looking lonesome and distressed, she laid on the garden bench humming Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, some other songs and even Anima Cristi (Soul of Christ). It wasn’t really clear at first if she’s having a post-emotional moment due to their serious talk about their childhood memories… She even shedded some tears… Then one of the HMs asked her if she’s doing fine and quite dramatically, she answers, “Hindi… Ine-enjoy ko lang yung night na ‘to kasi iba na bukas eh.” Even after the HMs adviced her many times before not to be so paranoid, she still insisted to be on depressing mode, feeling that she would be the one to be evicted later tonight.

Saicy joins her for a few minutes pushing her to straighten things out with Wendy. But it seems no one between them wants to step up, simply swallow their pride and go back as friends again. Dionne believes that talking with Wendy wouldn’t do any good, that it will only complicate matters more. With a very pessimistic attitude, she is bothered by the idea that she may leave tomorrow without mending their gap.

After some time, Wendy, Saicy, Bodie and Robert emerged from the house fooling around. Unhappily, Dionne was treated as if she doesn’t exist with no one coming near her. All throughout the time they were there, just a few feet away from her, not once did any of them bothered to include her in the group.

Once again, Wendy explained her side to the other HMs about how she went to a great extent before to know what’s eating Dionne, saying also that she even shared this with BB. She still feels hurt that after all the love and protection she gave Dionne, the latter made her look like the “bad girl” in front of the HMs with her false statements during their one of their open forums.

Sigh.... This issue still refuses to die a natural death. How long will this situation drag on? Will Dionne’s negative feeling that she would be the “chosen one” prove to be true, or will she be saved once again? Find out who will be the next evicted housemate later tonight at PBB Season 2 Primetime Bida!!!

Surprise Celebrity Visit!

Tirso Cruz III makes a special appearance at the PBB house! Actually, it’s just Bodie dressed like his dad in the 70s, carrying the Guy and Pip doll, which is a memento of their remarkable love tandem in the big screen.

After watching the film Bilangin Ang Bituin starring Mr. Tirso Cruz III and Ms. Nora Aunor, Big Brother asked Bodie to emulate his father as part of the 70’s theme the HMs are reviving throughout the day. Again, with Maria Leonora Theresa, a remembrance that Tirso gave Nora in their soaring career days, and shirts with Nora Aunor’s picture on them for the girls and Tirso’s for the boys, they’re all set to rekindle the past. The brief role-playing showed the fanatics of Guy&Pip love team as the HMs welcome "Pip" with a bunch of sampaguita lei.

Together with the housemates, Bodie took a walk down memory lane as he talk about his father’s passion for his craft as an actor. They discussed how being teamed up with the Superstar for so long developed a lot of fanatics for them both. In their days, Maria Leonora Theresa was showered with a lot of gifts (even real necklaces!), making it a part of Guy & Pip’s extraordinary showbiz history. The followers of their tandem even got overboard as they confuse “reel” with “real” particularly when Tirso started to have his family. They had a distorted perception that his wife is a Guy&Pip-relationship wrecker!

Bodie then shared with the housemates some anecdotes about his life as a showbiz child. He tells about how he is pressured to be the perfect son by the people around him since he is a son of a famous and well-respected actor. It was a hard time for him in the past to prove his self-worth without being pre-judged that the recognitions he earned for his accomplishments are not due to his own efforts but only because of special treatments in lieu of his dad’s popularity.

He also elaborated that he never took advantage of the privileges that come with his dad’s fame. Looking back to his experience in joining PBB, he claims that he underwent the same thing that the other HMs experienced before being finally accepted to enter Big Brother’s House. This down-to-earth guy further explains that it is just not in his nature to let the world know that he is a showbiz child - not because he is not proud of his father, but only to avoid any issue of being favored.

Being on the hot seat this time, the housemates took this opportunity to get to know Bodie more through his dad and how having a prominent celebrity father reflected on who he is now. But the winning question that was thrown at him came from Nel: Madami bang nagka-crush sayo dahil anak ka ng celebrity? Bodie answers: Kahit ‘di naman ako anak ng celebrity… This brought another round of loud chuckles among them.

That 70s Sounds

The fashion show may be over, but the 70s still lives on... at least inside the Big Brother house! The housemates soon continued on their chores and back to their normal way of life; but they still had to live and breathe the spirit of the groovy decade.

The girls were reminded that they had to talk like Nora Aunor until told otherwise. Gee-Ann and the others wondered how that was, but Wendy, who seemed to be a true-blue fan of the media icon, suggested: “Ganito o, dapat sa dulo ng sentence biglang may tigil eh. Parang GanitO! Ano ba YAN!” Soon Dionne and the others followed suit, and continued this way of talking while cleaning the mirrors.

The guys, on the other hand, took a vocal ride on the slow side… simply put, they talked like they were drugged out of their wits! Every conversation began with “Woooow paaaare… repapeeeps…” Soon the girls’ Ate Guy-like stunted way of talking was complemented with the long, dragging sentences of the boys. But Bruce emulated Nora every now and then, while the others kept chuckling!

They are now working on their shopping list, and kept deliberating what to buy in weird accents. How long will the boys talk with semi-drugged voices? And how long will the girls keep talking like Ate Guy? Is their way of talking contagious? Walang himala, paaaaare!

Blast from the past!

With their impressive early victory for the weekly task, the housemates found that they had a lot of time on their hands. But Big Brother had other plans for their ‘time’… in fact he had them go back in time, all the way to the Swingin’ 70s!

The housemates were tasked with turning the Big Brother house back forty years time by an interesting and entertaining show. They were provided authentic 70s costumes, complete with afro wigs, bell bottoms, and garments in psychedelic colors. The housemates were tasked not only to wear them, but be in character as well – exactly like Tirso Cruz and Nora Aunor, the premier Philippine love team of the 70’s! This started a slew of comments from Kian, Nel and the others like “Peace, maaan” and “Wooow pareeeh!” Bodie, on the other hand, seemed to have no problem emulating Pip. I wonder why…

Anyway, the housemates were later asked (through Gee-Ann) to put on a glamorous fashion show for Big Brother. They were to strut their stuff with the hall as their catwalk, and then put on an authentic 70s pose; and naturally everyone was excited about it. After lunch everyone began to put more details in their 70s character. Everyone laughed upon seeing Nel in large shades, a ‘fro and a handlebar moustache; Bruce even exclaimed: “Si Max Alvarado o!”

So after a few practices (with Robert hopelessly demonstrating a ‘Saturday night Fever’ move a la John Travolta), the housemates began their fashion show. They blundered at first, but after Big Brother reminded them to walk only one at a time, they soon couldn’t help but laugh at the proceedings. Wendy even told a groovy Nel: “Wow, sooo hot!”

After the show, the housemates still have to be in character. Will this blast from the past continue to be a source of fun for the housemates? When will Nel’s markered handlebar moustache finally fade? Yeah, baby!

Tough love or what?

The hostility between Wendy and Dionne grows serious by the minute. The sudden gap between these girls became more obvious recently. Looking back, the past few days showed the budding romance between Wendy and Bruce, spurring them to grow closer and have more time alone together. Apparently, Dionne became jealous of the sudden loss of opportunities to talk with her close friend Wendy.

Earlier, Big Brother sent a message through Gee-Ann asking them to gather together and have an open forum regarding their traumatic experience from the bullies they’ve encountered in the past. When Dionne was again asked about the people who have tormented her, she finally opened her issue with the two girl-HMs after refusing to reveal her feelings at first. This resulted to an intense argument between Dionne against Maricris and then with Wendy. Even after their talk last night and their rebuttals in front of the housemates, Maricris and Dionne were not able to settle their conflict.

It came as a surprise when Wendy suddenly cried in either frustration or anger, because of Dionne’s declarations. She got annoyed with how Dionne talks as if their friendship is already destroyed and more so, because of her inconsistencies. The latter confusingly claims that she only wants to enjoy her stay at PBB house and to work, an attitude that can’t be seen from her. But it seems that what really made Wendy flare up was the fact that Dionne confronted her about it in front of everyone, when she had already approached her several times before.

After the HM’s passionate discussion, the issue still did not die down. While Dionne separated herself from the others, Wendy continued to share her feelings of anger several times with the other housemates. During one of these moments, she and Bodie concluded that the root of Dionne’s actions stem from her need for affection. Since Mickey is “running” away from her feminine whiles, she is then directing her attention to someone else, with a yet unspoken thought that it may be Bruce. Wendy couldn’t understand how she could throw away everything they’ve shared for such trivialities.

How long will this falling out between them last? Will their friendship be broken? Who will step up, be a greater woman and put an end to both of their miseries? Watch out for the latest developments!

The Great Big Brother Swap

For four installments of Pinoy Big Brother, we’ve seen different people cross paths while they were inside the PBB house. But now Kuya has made perhaps the biggest announcement yet… one of our housemates will not only cross paths, but oceans as well!

This afternoon, director Lauren Dyogi announced the Big Brother Housemate Swap, something that has already been done in countries like Thailand and Switzerland, but is definitely a Philippine first. On April 19, one of the housemates will be selected by the Big Brother franchise from the European country of Slovenia, and try his or her luck with a Big Brother house full of foreigners for a full week! In turn, a special Slovenian housemate will be selected as well, and will temporarily bunk with our housemates. Furthermore, the housemates have absolutely no idea of what's going on... except for the chosen one!

Cultures will definitely clash for this special week in the Big Brother house! Who among the housemates will be shipped out, and how will he or she fare with a group of foreigners? And how will our housemates welcome the new 'visitor'? Be sure to tune in during April 21 to 27 for this special intercontinental housemate swap, kicking off with a big event soon to be announced!

Big Day Out

The 21-year-old Zeke Dimaguila stayed inside the PBB house for only several weeks, but he certainly left a lasting impression among the housemates. And now that he has been evicted, it only means that it’s now his turn to leave a lasting impression among a much larger group – with the Philippine audience.

“I try to think in Tagalog first, then speak it.” Although he’s born here to pure Filipino parents, Zeke admits that growing up in Australia somewhat has distanced himself from our culture; in fact, he says that Mickey speaks better Tagalog than him. While vacationing in Calamba, where his parents lived, he decided to audition for PBB, a move he definitely doesn’t regret. “I joined to experience a different world… and I definitely got my wish.”

And while he shares that he spends more time playing the online game World of Warcraft, Zeke showed that he’s capable of stirring up controversy as well, especially his much-celebrated relationship with Dionne, the latter of which he describes as “overly affectionate towards me.”

Call it culture shock, but with his nomination and eventual eviction, Zeke now has a chance to show the world who he really is – and sees a career in showbiz as a possibility: “Showbiz is a byproduct of being inside the PBB house,” he notes. He wants to be a VJ first and foremost, and when asked about a career in singing, he replies: “If it’s pleasurable to listen to…”

But as of now, Zeke aims to use the time and the fame he has to adapt. “I learned the hard way on Philippine culture,” he claims. “I have to find the balance between being frank and being sensitive… Basta it will take time.” And before dealing with an audience, he has to deal with a much more important thing: “I aim to appreciate more of my original culture.”

Rice milling no more!

“Congratulations! Napagdaanan niyo ng maayos ang inyong weekly task.” Loud shouts of joy pervaded the house of Big Brother as he put an end to the HMs’ agony in rice milling. Big Brother announced this after he asked them to gather in the living room in the midst of their task. He further tells them how he have seen their bayo-nic perseverance and determination to complete the task while rising above the difficulties they’ve encountered.

For these, Big Brother rewards them with a whopping 12,000 in cash for their budget next week. This brought squeals of delight among the HMs after being quite in shock at first after hearing that their 3-day struggle has ended. More importantly, this exciting news gives them a chance to help 12 families of their choice as recipients of one sack of rice each. Their desire to provide for these families as reflected in their attitude towards the task appears to be the number one reason why big brother becomes really generous tonight. The housemates can now breathe their sighs of relief for their job well done.

The 7th weekly task is indeed very challenging because not only did rice milling proved to be tedious, but they have also faced various obstacles and issues among themselves brought about by this task. Having learned their lesson, they became more organized, strategic and even wittier just to overcome their feelings of weariness. Mickey, Maricris, Wendy and Nel stand out as the HMs who have truly exhibited this attitude. Even Gee-Ann surpassed the challenge of being an old blind woman while still contributing to the task. On the other hand, frictions between some HMs were also created. Maricris bluntly reproached both Bea and Dionne for not giving their best in fulfilling their parts in the task as well as the household chores. However, Maricris tried to be calm and fair as she confronted them.
There’s no doubt that this experience made the housemates closer and wiser. But this doesn’t mean that they won’t be facing a new batch of trials. What does Big Brother have in store for the housemates? Find out at Big Brother Season 2 Primetime Bida!

All in a day's work

Milling rice manually is a true Filipino tradition, and in light of this being their weekly task the housemates, like our true ancestors, lightened up the tedious work with a few jokes, and a little song and dance as well!

This morning, Gee-Ann was keeping Kian, Nel and Bodie in rhythm while the others worked on their lunch. She’s developed a fondness for singing during her stay in the PBB house, and this time she had the boys singing OPM hits, from the Eraserheads rock songs to Vhong Navarro’s novelty tunes! Everyone happily chimed in, but soon broke into laughter when Nel, who was eagerly grounding and pounding, forcefully declared: “I am Thor, God of Thunder!”

Mickey, Robert and Bruce then took over for their shift, and although they were quite serious with their work, Mickey offered some advice to Robert on how to move more flexibly. They shared quite a few laughs as he gyrated a little bit, but the three were about to receive more entertainment when Nel and Bea went out to help!

The two were separating the husks with a bilao when the classic Filipino tune ‘Magtanim ay ‘Di Biro’ suddenly played. Nel almost automatically stood up and asked Bea’s hand for a dance, and she consented in traditional dalaga fashion! It soon turned comedic when Nel desperately tried to keep up with Bea as she taught him, but to no avail… so Nel simply sat down and said: “Hindi rin biro to ah!”

And so the housemates go about their daily task with a renewed dedication, but with a stronger determination. Will they finally succeed and add a second win to their dreary list of weekly task efforts? Stay tuned!

Truly a dance diva!

Since the nomination last Sunday, the housemates are truly trying harder in finding strategies and a systematic order in completing their 7th weekly task. They’ve explored numerous ways to keep their minds off the tiring and endless pounding and grinding of rice. In the midst of this, Saicy received the 11th call from the Big Red Phone even while Gee-Ann continues to struggle with her blind woman act.

The dancing prowess of Saicy was put to the test while conquering her fear of snakes. She chose Robert to support and assist her in this ordeal. Right after dinner, she began to prepare herself to face this frightening yet adventurous task. As soon as the snake master arrived, it was clear that she was ready to freak out anytime soon.

“Humihinga? Gumaganon ba talaga siya, dumidila?” Hilariously, she was asking too many questions about the snake’s features. She also kept on telling the caretaker of the snake and even Robert to keep its head away from her, which obviously shows her fear. As Robert started to carry the snake on his shoulders, Saicy tried to figure out how she would handle the slimy snake. After a lot of fuss, Big Brother asked her to hold it on her own and start dancing.

Despite having a hard time, Saicy starts to dance to the beat of the sexy tune being played. In the background, Robert cheers her on and asks her to project and smile. Soon she finally got her bearings and was able to give her best shot in dancing even with the heavy snake around her. She has proven that she is definitely a dancing diva as Big Brother expressed his pleasure in her feat.

Big Brother seemed to give the two some bonding moments. He was not responding when they asked to go back inside since Saicy already finished the challenge. Does Big Brother have something on his mind as he kept Robert and Saicy alone with the snake? Is there a possibility of a budding romance between these two? Tune in to Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 for the latest happenings.
