FUH-REEDOM!!!

After Wendy, Mickey confesses to Nel that he knows how to talk in Tagalog. Since Nel was tasked to catch Mickey redhanded, he wasn't surprised at all. Mickey said Nel's efforts to catch his secret were really obvious.

After confessing to Nel, Mickey went to Gee-Ann, Saicy, and Zeke. The three were just silent and awed when they heard of what Mickey had to say. When Wendy stepped into the scene and reminded them of how hard it was the past days trying to communicate to Mickey, Saicy screamed and tried to pinch Mickey.

With his secret out of the bag, Mickey finally gets to talk freely. And the half-Filipino/half-Austrian was one talkative guy! He talked about how hard it was for him to not laugh at their jokes. He shares that he pinched himself everytime he felt the urge to laugh. The poor guy!

The housemates were amused to be hearing more of Mickey's voice. They look to him in amusement and ask hima ll sorts of question. The 22-year old Mickey answers their questions gladly. Saicy utters, "Akalain mo ngayon, nakikinig kami sa'yo."

Victory blues

It’s already Friday, and the housemates are already waiting on the result of their first weekly task; and the sandcastle is all but finished. But before announcing it, Big Brother had one last chance to redeem himself – he called upon the housemates to play beach volleyball in the middle of their precious castle. But they proved their worth once again, as the housemates took every precaution so the ball wouldn’t wreck it.

Soon enough, Big Brother called them in to the living room. He then announced that the care they put into building the sandcastle over the last four days was impressive, thus giving them the win. He also commended Zeke for the hard work he put in. However, he pointed out that although it was built finely, they hardly checked up on it outside the time allotted. As a result, they would receive only half of the fifty percent they put at stake, or P3750.

But more bad news was about to come. Gee-Ann’s minor mishap proved to go unnoticed; and Big Brother cashed in on their prize. The cost of the vase she broke was subtracted from their prize money, and that meant shaving off about two thousand pesos from their cash. Gee-Ann broke into tears right after, but she was quickly consoled by her fellow housemates. “Huwag ka nang umiyak,” Wendy told her. “Mabuti nga na masasanay tayo pag kaunti lang ang pera eh.” Mickey even took some tissue and wiped the tears from her eyes himself.

But after this short dramatic moment, the housemates decided that having won the first weekly task was greater than any prize money. They quickly took the whiteboard and happily made their shopping list, and Gee-Ann’s face lit up almost immediately. But this is just the beginning. What weekly task awaits the housemates come Monday?

Punch-out!

Gee-Ann, Nel, Saicy and Wendy were treated to an evening of song and entertainment last night when Zeke and Mickey performed ‘Hawak Kamay’ for them (albeit rather erroneously), courtesy of big Brother. But this morning, the two were spared from a very uncomfortable situation.

The housemate ‘audience’ was called into the confession room this morning, and emerged wearing boxing gloves! They were not to remove it until told, and this put them in a very inconvenient and precarious situation. Wendy had to palm a piece of bread and delicately guide it to her mouth, while Nel struggled with a fork to eat his noodles.

The four were clueless as to why they were to wear the gloves, but the two who were spared did everything they can to help their ‘incapacitated’ housemates. Zeke happily took on some chores for them, while Mickey was courteous enough to fix their lapels and do any ‘wardrobe adjustments’ (see diary).

But after breakfast the PBB theme song blared, signaling the time to work on the sandcastle. Will the four housemates be able to help Zeke and Mickey, or will their lack of finger function make them more of a liability?

A night performance for Kuya

A little after dinner, Kuya called Mickey to the confession room. When he exits Kuya's room, he asked Nel, Gee-Ann, Saicy, and Wendy to gather in front of the television. Mickey then asked Zeke (with a lot of sign language and a few broken English-German) to follow him to the confession room. "Patay tayo, Mickey," utters Zeke.

And when the two enters the confession room, Kuya asked them to do another performance of Yeng Constantino's "Hawak Kamay". The four other housemates were asked to watch the two and evaluate their performace.

Zeke made a slight mistake on the song's title. "Awit Kamay", he called it. He and Mickey also had some difficulty. "Nakalimot po siya ng iba," says Zeke. He admitted that they also forgot to practice further.

The housemates were supportive of the two. Nel uttered, "You can do it mate! Go!"

Let's sing along now...

It's Zeke and Mickey's turn to shine for the afternoon's task focused on the two balikbayans. The housemates were pleasantly surprised to hear Yeng Constantino's Hawak Kamay blast through the speakers around the house. But when the song was played on repeat, they all knew something was up. Soon Nel, Wendy, Saicy, Zeke and Gee-Ann were ordered by Big Brother to teach Mickey the song before the afternoon ends. Saicy's dancing instruction to the 'German' speaking dude was a huge feat so the housemates scrambled to be able to pass this one.

Turns out Zeke needed Tagalog lessons himself so Big Brother switched the solo into a duet. The other housemates struggled with the translation of words and they ended up doing an action song for the boys, communicating some of the lyrics through sign language. Mickey had his game face on and brilliantly learned the lyrics without rousing much suspicion from Nel and the girls.

Big Brother soon rang the doorbell, meaning their time to teach Zeke and Mickey were up. The two then trotted off to the confession room to show off to the big man of the house their singing prowess. Kuya gave their singing coaches a treat by showing the 'concert' in the living room TV. The four had a laugh, watching Zeke and Mickey struggle with the words. And what was more amusing was that Mickey was doing a better job than Zeke! Hmm...would this task giveaway Mickey and Big Brother's secret?

Doggone it!

The housemates woke up this morning with a new task… and some new companions to boot! Nope, it wasn’t a surprise visitor, nor was it the other housemates that are about to enter. They were instead greeted by a pair of dogs!

The task called for them to play a PBB version of ‘Monkey in the Middle’. They were to strand in a circle, with the taya in the middle. They were then provided a small toy football, and were to toss it to any person, as the taya would try desperately to catch it. The stakes were upped, however, when the dogs were to join in the fun as well! And since the game was held in the garden, they had to make sure that no foot (or paw) wreck the sandcastle they have been building!

This task made it quite an enjoyable morning for our housemates. Their four-legged friends were of course attracted to the football, and couldn’t help but make a catch for it as well. Everyone was shrieking as they expected to catch the toy, only to have two mutts follow suit! Nel practiced his high notes as the dogs tried to grab the toy from his hands with their teeth, and Gee-Ann would look hopelessly as the toy sailed towards her, and hear the dogs yelping as they jumped to her. Mickey, who seemed to be a dog lover himself, patted them on the heads as if they were his own pets. Wendy, on the other hand, had a ‘Zeke moment’ when she slid on the grass while trying to run away from the playful dogs!

After this fun-filled activity, they took a bath and prepared for lunch, but not before bidding goodbye to their four-footed playmates!

Mistakes pile up for PBB housemates

The second day inside the Pinoy Big Brother house proved to be as difficult as the first for the six housemates after they made the same mistake of missing Big Brother's cue.
"Ngayon pa lang nangyari sa aking bahay na pabalik-balik ang mga housemates sa confession room," Big Brother told Wendy who was reprimanded for changing clothes inside the storage room.
The other housemates had also changed clothes inside the storage room after they were given the task of learning Samba from Saicy, who was told to teach the group to dance.
"Hindi natin pinag-iisipan ang instructions. Parang naglalaro lang tayo," Wendy told the others after she was verbally scolded.
For their punishment, the group was ordered to memorize all the house rules and take 30 sacks of sand from the storage room to the sand box by the garden. Big Brother said they must not spill a grain of sand in the process.
Following the task, Saicy was finally allowed to remove the handcuff connected to Mickey. Big Brother said he was satisfied with her performance as dance instructor.
The afternoon saw the housemates starting work on their sand castle, their first major task for the week. The sand castle, based on a prototype beside the sand box, is due on Friday.
Nel, who was unable to bring a beachwear, opted to remove his pants while doing the task. He wore his underwear to be safe from Big Brother's punishment because the housemates were ordered to change into their beachwear while building the project.
Later, Big Brother called each housemate to the confession room and asked them about their day.
"Mahirap. Pero nakikita ko po ang effort nila particularly ni Saicy," Mickey said in his broken Filipino.
Gee-Ann came next. She was in tears when she told Big Brother how she misses her parents. She said she had a wonderful day with the others even though they failed to do some tasks right.
Big Brother, meanwhile, led Nel to confess that he finds Wendy beautiful. The housemate, however, said: "Hanggang friends lang kami ni Wendy kasi may boyfriend siya."
Wendy, on the other hand, complained that some of the housemates were not giving their all-out performance in their tasks.
"May iba hindi nagbibigay ng kanilang best. Baka hindi pa nailalagay sa utak nila ang mga dapat na gawin," Wendy said, particularly referring to Ezekiel who was the reason why they missed lunch.
For his part, Ezekiel told Big Brother that he was sorry and felt really bad for alerting the others for lunchtime. He apologized to each housemate after promising Big Brother that he will never make the same mistake again.

Sabongga moments!

The housemates received their first task of the day, and it wouldn’t be easy... at least for the unsuspecting Nel. His face lit up as he read the task, but little did he know that he was in for the scrubbing of his life!

The task was aptly named ‘Sabongga’, and for good reason. Nel was ordered to lie on the tub that was neatly positioned on the outdoors area. The housemates would be given one hour to scrub him down with loofahs and soap, and was ordered that he must be whiter in that span of time, or else they’d be in for a consequence. Moreover, Nel was supposed to narrate his bath rituals while the others do their job.

Needless to say, the task turned out to be fun for everyone! It was a comical moment with having five pairs of hands rubbing the dark out of his skin, and Nel, who was very ticklish, couldn’t help but shout “Be gentle naman kayo!” or break out in a shriek every time someone hits a ticklish spot. The others couldn’t help but laugh at their situation; Gee-Ann remarked: “At least di mo na kailangang mag-shower!” Zeke, on the other hand, gave a progress report: “Parang pumuti ang tiyan mo!”

Will the housemates finally be able to scrub the shade out of Nel’s skin? Stay tuned to this ‘cleansing’ Big Brother task!

What a tease!

Gee-Ann and Nel have turned out as pleasant surprises not only for the housemates, but for the PBB fans as well. At first glance, this assumptionista may come across as a little eccentric because of her ‘children’ and her fondness for talking to, well, inanimate objects; and Nel really left a first impression with his ‘Mr. Perfect declaration. But as expected, they turned out to be entertaining personalities inside the PBB house.

While going about their daily chores, the two talked about some serious matters. “Pero yung iyak mo kagabi, ramdam na ramdam namin yun ah,” Nel said. He was of course referring to last night, when Gee-Ann suddenly broke into tears and was consoled by Mickey.

But the drama ended there; soon the two were teasing each other relentlessly! After Gee-Ann accidentally knocked off and broke a vase last night, she exclaimed: “May balat ata ako sa pwet!” She also teased him for his ‘cleaning prowess’, and Nel uttered an old Filipino wisecrack as an answer. Gee-Ann then came back by asking: “Bakit ba palagi mong sinasabi yung ‘sa araw-araw na ginawa ng Diyos?’” To which he quipped: “Eh totoo naman eh!”

They also talked about Mickey, with Nel noting that despite being difficult to communicate with, he was a lot easy to relate to. Gee-Ann also added that he was very kind and gentle, and that was easy to understand.

And as the housemates are getting along, it can only mean one thing: tons of viewing pleasure
for everyone!

Brewing romance?

While Zeke, Nel, Wendy, and Saicy enjoyed their dinner, Gee-Ann spent some time alone crying. Mickey later went to her side and offered her some tissue.

With some difficulty, the two talk about why Gee-Ann is crying. After pointing out some words in the English-German dictionary and mention of the word Big Brother, the two came to a sort of understanding as to the reason behind Gee-Ann's crying moment.

Probably not one to leave a crying woman alone, Mickey kept Gee-Ann company. He even tried to convince her to eat, saying - with a lot of sign language and word-pointing at the dictionary - that he'll eat only when Gee-Ann does.

He later on tried to make Gee-Ann feel better by trying to make some "no-need-for-words" jokes.

BB want Mickey to Pretend

The sixth housemate to enter the "Pinoy Big Brother" house was immediately given his first task. The task, however, was a bit extra-ordinary.

"Binabati kita sa iyong pagpasok sa aking bahay. Ikaw ang una kong bibigyan ng lihim na task. Tayong dalawa lang ang nakakaalam na nakakaintindi ka at nakakapagsalita ng Filipino," Big Brother said.

The German-speaking Mickey was given orders by Big Brother in the confession room while the rest of the housemates -- Ezekiel, Wendy, Nel, Saicy, and Gee-Ann -- were lounging on the bed by the garden.

The still-handcuffed Mickey was told to pretend not to understand Filipino for five days to see how the others would react to him.

"Gusto kong makita kung paano sila makikisama sa iyo, kung ano'ng paraan ang kanilang gagamitin para maintindihan mo ang mga tasks at ang aking instructions. Gusto ko rin makita kung ano ang kanilang sasabihin tungkol sa iyo, lalo na kung alam nilang hindi mo sila naiintindihan," Big Brother added.

Big Brother promised Mickey an award should he finish his task. A punishment also awaits him should he fail.

"Pero sa susunod na mga araw kailangang manatili ang paniniwala ng mga housemates na hindi ka nakakapagsalita at nakakaintindi ng Filipino. Kapag naging matagumpay ka, bibigyan kita ng gantimpala. Pero kung hindi, magkakaroon ka rin ng kaukulang parusa," said Big Brother.
Before he was sent out of the confession room, Big Brother asked Mickey to give the group’s first task to the girl whom he considers as beautiful.

Mickey gave the instructions to Gee-Ann, the housemate who brought a baby doll with her to the PBB house.

The first group task involved removing their handcuffs while the Pinoy Big Brother theme song was being played for five minutes.

"Ang mga susi ng mga posas ay nakasabit sa inyong mga katawan. Maaaring ang susi ay nasa katawan ng ibang housemates kaya kailangan ninyo itong hanapin para mabuksan ng inyong mga posas. Binibigyan ko kayo ng limang minuto para gawin ang task na ito. Kapag nagsimula na ang kantang 'Pinoy Ako' ay sisimulan ninyo na rin ang pagbubukas ng mga posas," the first task read.

The task further added that the housemate who fails to unlock his or her handcuff will have it removed the following day.

Before they were able to rest, Big Brother gave them the list of house chores for the duration of their stay. They were also ordered to weigh their clothes and food that will last for one week.
Their first group task was only the beginning of other chores that they would have to do in the coming days inside the PBB house.

The first wekly task: Is it coming to an end before it even begins?

February 26, 2007 11:50 PM

While the afternoon drizzle prevented he housemates from proceeding with their weekly task, the perfect evening sky gave them opportunity to finally start building their sandcastle. After an initial difficulty and brief discussion as to how to attack the task at hand, the six housemates decided it'd be best to douse the sand with water.

Having prepped the sand, they all began to form it into a mountain, which will serve as 'base' of the sandcastle. Everything seemed to be going well, with them making enough progress to get started on the actual outline of the sandcastle. But as luck (or that famous Murphy's Law) would have it, things just have to crumble...literally.

Confident that their mountain of a base is enough, the hosuemates started forming the outlines of the castle. Alas, when they did so, the base started to fall apart. Feeling optimistic, housemates Wendy and Gee-Ann kept on rebuilding the mountain. But it just kept on falling apart.

With a collapsing base, will the housemates' castle be finished in time for Friday? Or will the housemates lose half of their first weekly budget?
