Use your coconut!

Bruce arrived with their activity for the day; and while it had nothing to do with the weekly task, it still required food nonetheless. They were told to prepare buko shake, using the ten coconuts placed in the storage room. The catch: they weren’t to use any sharp objects!

‘Gamitin ang coconut’ was the name of the task, and rightfully so; it required the housemates to knock meat and juice out of the coconuts using any corner, any stone, any blunt object inside the house. So Kian took a hammer out of the toolbox, determined to pound the edible part out of those hard shells!

After Mickey took a saucepan to hold the juice, Zeke grabbed a coconut and forcefully pounded it against the side of the pool. Robert looked for a stone with a rather pointed edge, and did the same. But Kian was the first to draw juice out of it using his trusty hammer; and soon after the ingredients for the shake was being prepared.

The housemates celebrated their success by each having a glass of the shake, and relished in their victory. Soon they were cracking jokes and playing a ‘word connection’ game when the bell for Room Service sounded. And their laughter turned into shock when they saw what was next on Big Brother’s menu: several glasses of buko shake!

Basketball Hunk Joins The PBB House

Pinoy Big Brother opens its door to the 11th housemate in the person of basketball player Bruce Quebral. Bruce, a 25-year old guy from Cainta, used to play for the University of the Philippines and the Philippine Basketball League.

As a child, Bruce Angelo Quebral was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He had everything that any boy of his age can only dream of. Bruce went to an exclusive school, rode an expensive car, had a personal driver, a uniformed nanny, and other five maids. He was living a luxurious life, until a tragedy struck their family and turned things around.

Bruce's father was diagnosed with cancer. His old man was brought in and out of the hospital for treatment. The expensive hospital bills took a major strike on their finances and drove the whole family to debt. But all the family's effort ended up futile as his father succumbed to the disease not long after.

His family faced with money problems, Bruce took on his father's role of provider. He and his family had to let go of the wealthy lifestyle that they have gotten themselves used to. Bruce admits to forcing himself to mature immediately so he can support his family.

Bruce also had to give up his dream. After playing basketball for the UP Fighting Maroons, Bruce thought he was on his way to becoming a professional basketball player when we got the chance to play for the Granny Goose team in the PBL. Unfortunately, the game was over before it even fully began as Bruce's PBL career was cut short by a serious injury.

Unable to go back to the court, Bruce decided to work as a model to make a living. Being the eldest child, Bruce supported his brother and sister and paid for the medical expenses of his ailing mother.

This time in PBB, Bruce was given the opportunity to revive his passion for basketball. To mark his debut in the House, Bruce was tasked by Big Brother to officiate the basketball league involving the other housemates. Big Brother was confident that Bruce will be able to accomplish this task given the new housemate's basketball expertise.

Bruce's philosophy in life is "Never say die. Laban kung laban." Will this belief see Bruce through inside the PBB House?

The Reigning Queen

Jasmin entered the Big Brother house in a relatively nondescript fashion, but this could be attested to the housemates who, after experiencing all sorts of gimmicks by the new entrants, may have felt a little used to the whole thing. But nothing could have prepared them for Jasmin’s take-charge attitude which she showed immediately this morning.

The housemates went about their weekly task of cooking for Big Brother, and were getting ready to prepare a nice dish of kare-kare. Jasmin took the reins, which was good for the housemates; but they soon had their doubts after Jasmin took the responsibility all to herself. Mickey even mentioned that they had to work as a team, but even his words didn’t sway this Diskarte Queen. So the housemates simply let her do her thing, until the dish suddenly began to get oily and coagulated. It wasn’t until Robert and Wendy took over when the dish was saved. But when Jasmin returned and took the sandok from Robert, all Wendy could say was: “Kakaloka!”

After lunch the housemates finally settled, and they played a game of 21 Questions. Zeke took his handy ‘banana mic’ and continued to ask Jasmin about her relationship stories. But Big Brother suddenly posted a task for them, and this required them to donate blood. The housemates were divided on whether they would acquiesce to the task or not, but since the room fell silent as they were filling forms, it seems that all of them would one way or another give their blood for a good cause.

Will Jasmin’s dominating attitude, which dwarfed even that of Kian’s, serve as a boon or bane for her? Will the housemates see her as an industrious person, or simply as not being a team player?

The "Diskarte Queen" Makes Her Debut

Just when excitement's starting to brew, who can turn things around than a new character. The second week of Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 paves the way for the introduction of fresh faces, and for the 10th housemate, we meet the "Diskarte Queen" in the person of Jasmin Engracia.

Jasmin is a 22-year old nursing student from Davao. She attends the Mindanao Medical Foundation College in Davao City. This southern lass enjoys spending her free time reading, watching television, cooking, or going to the mall. She loves playing badminton and volleyball and aspires to be a newscaster in the future.

Jasmin is a former Miss Zamboanga beauty pageant winner, but according to her, she doesn't seem to put much importance to her beauty title. Jasmin still prefers wearing simple and comfortable clothes without trying too hard to look like a true-blue beauty queen. She rarely wears make-up but manages to look as beautiful as she naturally is.

Langging, as she is known to her family and close friends, has earned the reputation of being a "Diskarte Queen." Early in her life, Jasmin had already learned the value of hardwork and perseverance. Jasmin belongs to a broken family. While growing up, she witnessed her family experience as series of financial challenges, that is why as a child she did everything she can to earn. Jasmin reveals to having sold an array of things ranging from phone cards and clothes. She was immediately exposed to the tough reality of the world where she learned the skills needed to survive.

Jasmin admits to frequenting casinos. By playing this game of luck she is able to earn some fast money which she sends to her mother in Ozamis and to her sister in Zamboanga. As a seasoned casino player, Jasmin believes that life is about taking risks. Only those who are brave and tough can take risks and in the end, reap the rewards of life.

As Jasmin enters the challenging PBB House, she was welcomed by Big Brother with a task. Jasmin was instructed to barge into any room inside the house without being noticed by any housemate. Whichever room she finds herself into is where she will sleep for the night.
Can Jasmin see herself through Kuya's task? Will her street-smart character help her survive inside the house? How will the other housemates handle her tough and independent personality?

Proving his worth

Kian may have had the weirdest entrance gimmick yet in Pinoy Big Brother history, but after emerging from the lamp he came in (thanks to the collective efforts of the other housemates), this Filipino of Persian descent fit right in immediately.

This morning, the housemates were faced with the second leg of their weekly task, and were required to cook a serving of chicken cordon bleu for Big Brother. Kian, who owns and manages a restaurant, quickly showcased his culinary skills with the girls. He even helped the boys make the decorative garnishing as well! And after the task was done, Kian even prepared a giniling dish for their lunch.

He also made quick friends among the housemates. Bea helped him unpack his things, and saw Kian’s family picture. When she commented on his mom’s beauty, Kian remarked: “Syempre naman… maganda taste ng dad ko eh!” She was being her usual inquisitive self, and Kian found her many questions quite amusing. He even noted, after her every query: “Atenista ka talaga!”

Kian also had an easy time fitting in with the boys, and was in a deep discussion with Mickey about music as he went about his household chores. There’s no doubt this housemate, who made a startling first impression, is set for more comfortable times inside the Big Brother house.

Big Brother Welcomes A "Prodigal Son" To The House

Pinoy Big Brother introduces the 9th personality to join the most celebrated housecast in the country. Kian Kazemi, a 21 year old guy from Makati, is the newest addition to the fun and colorful world of PBB Season 2. Kian is a Hotel and Restaurant Management student from the Colege of St. Benilde. He currently owns and manages a restaurant and works as a part-time model. This hunky housemate enjoys playing basketball, wrestling, and rock climbing--the kind of sport activities that give him his muscular physique. But behind the good looks and pumped built lies a dark and rebellious past.

Kian admits to once being hooked to vices like marijuana and being engaged in a series of street rumbles. His serious personality issues were brought about by his Alopecia Areata, a severe case of stress-related hair loss which Kian experienced during his teens. With such physically embarrassing condition, Kian went through a tough time as he was consistently teased and bullied by his classmates and other kids in the neighborhood.

His alopecia problem was only one of the traumatic struggles that Kian had to deal with as a teenager. Kian tells about the thyroid problem of his mother and the failure of his parents' business. His parents had no choice back then but to sell their house and move to a smaller apartment in a depressed neighborhood. It was in this kind of environment where Kian was exposed to vices and violence.

But instead of sinking into total darkness, Kian found hope and refuge in sports and physical activities. He devoted his time into working out in the gym where he learned the value of self-discpline, determination, and optimism. Kian has finally put his "Prodigal Son" image behind and is now seeing the brighter side of life through his entrepreneurship and modelling works.

In honor of his half-Persian descent, Kian was tasked by Big Brother to dress up as a mythical genie and get inside the giant golden lamp erected on the garden of the PBB house. Kian will only be allowed to get out of the lamp and enter the house if one housemate will rub the giant lamp thrice. In this case, Kian will grant three wishes to the housemate who will set him free. However, if no one rubs the lamp three times, Kian will get to choose the housemate who will grant his own three wishes.

Who will be the housemate who will set Genie Kian free? Will Kian spend a long time inside the giant lamp? Stay tuned and find out Kian's fate inside the PBB house!

The Grudge, Part 1

The second week may have kicked off with two new housemates, but is friction between two other housemates brewing an emotional storm? Gee-Ann and Wendy have been ranting about Zeke for some time now, and today, Gee-Ann confronts him on the matter.

Zeke accompanied Gee-Ann as she went to replace her dolls, and soon the two got to talking. The latter said that she got hurt by his comments a while back, and reminded him that the culture is different her, noting: “Maybe that’s just the way it is in Australia, but while you’re here iba ang ugali ng mga tao, so you have to change kase baka iba ang maapektuhan.” Zeke defended himself, saying that’s just how he is.

Gee-Ann continues to explain that she’s telling him this because she, as well as the other housemates, cares for him. “When Mickey does it, it’s true but I don’t get offended,” she notes. “Honestly Zeke, yung pasensya ko sobra-sobra pag binu-bully ako, pero pagdating sayo, sumasabog ako.” Zeke then responded by telling her that what he’s doing is for her own good. “I’m trying to make you a stronger person,” he relates. “You always say sorry… sorry for what?”

The conversation then ended with Zeke remarking: “Masyado kang passive sa akin.” Is this the start of a rivalry between the two, or will they settle their differences with the help of the other housemates? How will this affect their weekly activities and tasks? Stay tuned for updates over this brewing conflict!

Bon Appetit PBB!

Week two in the PBB house begins with one revealed secret, two new housemates, and five days to complete a new weekly task. After Mickey uttered his first Tagalog words inside the house, and after Robert and Bea were ushered quite discreetly inside, the housemates were barely given time to know them before they were given the second weekly task.

Mickey and Robert were chatting in the gym room when Big Brother called Robert. He soon returned to the other housemates and read them their first weekly task, aptly titled ‘Room Service’. Upon a given signal, the housemates were given two minutes to don their aprons and other culinary attire and report to the storage room. There they would find a recipe, and had to prepare the designated food item. And it wasn’t only supposed to taste good, but look good as well; the housemates were required to present it in an appetizing manner, and could use anything in handy inside the house to spice it up.

This was done to promote teamwork and camaraderie among the housemates, especially for the new ones. And true enough, they got to talking immediately. The task called once again to bet a certain percentage of their weekly allowance, between 50 and 100 percent. Bea and the other girls wanted to bet the minimum, but Mickey and the others suggested that they up the stakes a little bit, after the success of the first task. So the consensus was placed at 60%, and right after the housemates assigned who were to be the chief cook, helpers, and other responsibilities.

Will two new housemates be a boon or a bane to the second weekly task? Will Big Brother win this time?

My Sassy Girl!

After last night’s surprise entry by the UK-bred Robert, the housemates remained skeptical as to what way the next housemate will introduce himself, or herself. But it was barely a day before Bea, the 20-year-old cutie from Bicol, stepped inside the Big Brother house.

Before entering, Big Brother already handed her a secret task: she was to kiss each housemate twice on the cheeks, and was given an hour to do so. At the same time, Wendy, Saicy and Gee-Ann were called into the confession room to help a ‘friend’ with her makeup. She immediately carried out her task and lived up to her friendly and talkative self, chatting with her new housemates comfortably as they all followed Big Brother’s request.

It was obvious to the three, however, that Bea was indeed the eighth housemate. Wendy even remarked: “Two down, six to go!” Soon Bea was telling the others about her life before PBB. This 20-year-old left her home in Camarines to work as a resource associate in a Makati consulting firm, and her soft-spoken and demure disposition helped her relate with others. But she admits to being very talkative and makulit; and it was this side that showed as she chatted up the girls within minutes of her induction.

Another housemate has entered the PBB house, and six more are remaining. Will Big Brother continue to induct the new housemates discretely like he did with Robert and Bea, or is a different strategy brewing?

7th Housemate, Robert, Enters Big Brother's House

Seventh housemate Robert Woods entered the Big Brother house tonight, masquerading as Kuya's fast food delivery boy. A shift manager for a fast food chain in the United Kingdom, Big Brother aptly disguised Robert as the housemate's 'reward giver'. Excited over their burger, fries and ice cream, Ezekiel, Wendy, Saicy, Gee-Ann, Nel and Mickey were a bit surprised to see a person from the outside enter the house. However, they welcomed the stranger inside seeing that he's delivering their goodies.

But the housemates became suspicious of Robert's actions when he looked confused as to what he was to do next. They were nice enough to invite him to eat with them and prepared to set a place at the table for him. Slowly, it dawned on Gee-Ann that he might be their new 'comrade' and asked Robert point blank about it. The other girls shrieked in surprise when he said 'Yes', while the boys readily toured him around the house.

Robert, refered to as "The Good Son," had been living the roughest three years of his life before entering the house. Born to a British father and a Filipina mother, Robert grew up in Saudi Arabia til he was 8. He returned to the Philippines when his parents separated. During his second year as a computer science student, he suddenly got news that his father was sick. He left everything and flew to the United Kingdom to be with his dad. But when his dad felt much better and opted to stay with his girlfriend, Robert was left all alone to fend for himself; emersing himself in work, with no friends or family in the UK. When his father's condition worsened and was abandoned by his girl, Robert still welcomed him with open arms despite his current financial difficulties. He has no regrets whatsoever and he believes the time has come for him to pursue his own dreams.

Would he be able to adjust quickly in Big Brother's house? How would he jive with the first 6 housemates specially now that they have already bonded with one another? Robert's adventure in the house begin!
